This past summer, we borrowed my parents ice cream maker and got busy. We adore a classic creamy ice cream and one of our favorites to make is this milk and honey inspired goodness. Using our McIntosh Tupelo Honey, we are able to recreate a classic with simple ingredients.
What you will need:
- Ice Cream Maker
- Ice
- Ice Cream salt
- Freezer safe storage containers
Ingredients:
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup half and half
- 3 cups heavy cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cups sugar
- 1/2 - 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 tablespoon of McIntosh Tupelo Honey
- OPTIONAL: Chocolate chips, pecans, marshmallows, any toppings of your choice
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to the ice cream tub (hold off on the toppings)
- Place the cover on the tub and center on machine.
- Align the machine motor (cover) and lock into place
- Add ice, I always add ice after I make sure the tub is lined up to the motor otherwise I would need to reset the entire process. I have had to do this many time before learning the lesson.
- Once the ice is filled up almost to the top, I add in the ice cream salt over the ice. I usually sprinkle in a cup or so evenly along the top.
- Then we turn the machine on and making sure the tub is spinning approriately
- It takes my machine anywhere from 30-45 minutes to become a soft serve texture.
- I serve all our ice cream in little cups and add toppings in. I love drizzling honey on top, then adding chocolate chips. My daughter loves just chocolate chips on top. Whatever your choice, you can't go wrong.
- Once everyone has their fill, I store any left overs in a glass (freezer safe) container.
